The Science Behind Clearer Sound

Sound waves resonate as they enter your ear canal, creating tiny distortions that make certain sounds feel muddy, unclear, or harsh. This can make speech harder to understand, high-pitched noises feel sharp, and music lose its richness. Definition controls how sound enters your ears, reducing distortion and keeping sound natural and balanced.

...sounds feel brighter and clearer.

“I’ve really enjoyed testing Definition so far. I have no idea how it works - but it seems to make trebly, tinny sounds feel fuller AND woolly, muddy sounds feel brighter and clearer. I’m in the studio now, so I’m about to fire up some mixes to see what happens.”

I could hear the music really clearly.

“These work really well, rather than dulling down all sound they just cut out the wobbly bits that make sounds bad. Tried these on a night out, I could hear the music really clearly, people close to me clearly too. Really impressed with this.”

Great sound

I tried Flare. At first, I put them in both ears, and the sound was so loud. Then I remembered that I have hearing loss in my left ear, so I removed the Flare in my right ear. The sound was still great, and it was so comfortable that I forgot that I was wearing the Flare in my left ear. I almost went to sleep with it on.

Great Product

Arrived quickly and they look great. Only point of note was there were no instructions, or details regarding the product, so have had to go with what is shown on the website. This doesn't take anything away from the product.

Defining the wrong sounds

I love my Calmer's but still struggle to hear people in a noisy setting like a bar or busy restaurant so I thought these would be perfect. Unfortunately not :( The plastic bits are large and uncomfortable in my ear, and they ended up muffling the person next to me to the point where I couldn't undertand them, but I could hear the music playing in the restaurant perfectly... So yes they live up to their name, just not amplifying the sounds I need.

Our Story

The very first Flare products came to life at our first Flare HQ – a garage in our founders garden. As a small team of three we designed and built our first loudspeakers and provided PA for gigs and festivals.

It wasn’t long before we ran out of space...
