Attenuate™ earplugs gently reduce sound level without losing any detail.

Unlike earplugs that muffle sound, Attenuate lowers all frequencies evenly which allows you to hear everything clearly at a more comfortable level.

Sound level is reduced by -12dB.

Using precision acoustics to lower volume uniformly, Attenuate preserves natural sound quality so you hear everything with the same detail, just quieter.

Think of it like turning down the volume knob on the world - nothing disappears, everything just gets quieter by the same amount.

Attenuate earplugs are ideal for people who want balanced noise reduction without sacrificing sound fidelity.

Ideal uses include:
• Musicians & Performers who want to monitor music accurately while reducing volume.

• People bothered by background noise (street noise, loud neighbours) who don’t want to feel completely cut off from the world.

• Students & professionals who need to focus in noisy spaces (libraries, open offices) with minimal distraction.

• Everyday noise sensitive listeners who want consistent reduction with no frequency bias (even sound reduction across all frequencies).

• Those who want to enjoy live music at slightly lower levels.

Compact, featherlight and discreet. Attenuate are supplied with four tip sizes for a tailored fit, delivering long-lasting comfort without pressure or bulk.

Definitely the most comfortable, best fitting ear

Definitely the most comfortable, best fitting ear plugs I have tried. I would have preferred a little bit more noise reduction but they work well

I’m a Flare addicted

I’m a flare addicted, I’m AuDhD and I struggle a loooot a loooot with noises, so I’ve been trying everything that I see here. I don’t like earplugs so flare was a good finding even though I’m going to broke soon trying everything 😅
I have the calmer (mini and kids because of the size) the kids are my favourites I find them softer to use and also I love the colors 🤭, I got the calmer night a few weeks ago with the Attenuate that It was for 17€ ish and when I went to the cart was showing as 21€ ish; which made me a little bit annoyed but I was still curious to try.

About calmer night : I got the mini one because again, I have very tiny ears, and I was super happy with its slight better then the regular kids one and super soft as well I also struggle with sensory issues so I need a soft material. And I need a lot of them cause I’m always losing my calmers around the house 😅.

The Attenuate I liked it but with the tips I have from the flare Immerse, that I got in a bundle and they are nice but not as I expected.

I’m very fuzzy with the products I buy cause I do spend a lot to make my life easier (I should actually get sponsored hahahaha) and flare calmer was my perfect finding, the attenuate maybe just need to offer an option of the different tips when you buy them maybe.

Ps: I would love to know how to use my points cause I think I had a few and I never got the chance 😅

Possibly better than the calmer

These might just be a little better than the calmer at reducing overall sound while keeping the details through the range. I personally had to swap the ear tips to the Silicone square shape tips instead of the rounded ones that come with them. The silicone tips in medium just fit my ears perfectly so I can wear them for longer without any discomfort. As I've always said before complaining, try all the different tips as the right tip makes the world of difference. Very happy with them.

Minimal protection

Comfortable and discreet, i wore them to watch Arrested Development in a small venue. My ears are now ringing loudly. That's another bit of hearing i won't get back. The sound quality seemed no better than 3M foam plugs too.

Not for every environment

I carry with me at all times my calmer pro, attentuate, and other brand (we all know). I will agree that these do create distortion as other have mentioned, only in specific locations. I noticed this when I went to two sporting events in a row and was able to identify when it occurred. If I was standing in an area where there would be a lot of noise bouncing around (like close to under the bleachers) there would be distortion and I hated it, so I would have to wear other brand. As soon as I'm in my seat or a more open area, I was able to switch over to the attenuate and enjoy the remainder for the game without issues. I also can't tell if these are too big or if that's just how ear plugs fit, my calmer headphones are also a little big and these are only slightly more comfortable. I feel like I have to press them into my ear kind of firmly but they do stay put. I do like these but certain tweaks would definitely help me like them more.

Between Isolate and Calmer

I was able to test my recently received Attenuates at a local festival last weekend.
I found them reasonably comfortable with the Small tip fitted, to the point where I forgot a had them in after a while!
The attenuation in that setting was just right and I could still hear conversation between songs. The attenuation seems fairly even across the audible frequencies which means I could enjoy the gig as much (If not more than!) as I would without.
They fill the gap between Calmer and Isolate perfectly and will be coming everywhere with me now!

These fill a niche that nothing else has!

My earplugs arrived, and they are so cool! I was honestly floored by how they reduce transients and "even out" volume while still allowing the "air" of higher frequencies. The hole-thru design really mitigates the occlusion effect when speaking or singing. I was also pleasantly surprised by how small they are--minimally intrusive while very effective. The attenuation somehow feels dynamic(!), almost like "passive in-ear compression" that you only really notice when it gets loud, but otherwise, the effect is nearly transparent. That's a nifty trick! Truly: whatever you've done, nice job!!

When speaking or singing with them in, there is a small "presence bump" of mid frequencies, but again it's not at all the occlusion effect you get with a closed space between the a traditional ear plug and the ear drum. One thing I had to watch out for: with the plastic end being small and protruding from the ear, inadvertent bumping resulted in loud transient pops, so I had to be careful not to hit them. This is a factor for all earplugs, but something to consider.

I safely tested them in some modest home improvement applications using power tools, and they did the trick without shutting out other important information I needed to hear. That said they didn’t attenuate a ton of decibels, but I also recognize they aren't exactly designed for that.

I haven’t had a chance to try them in a live performance setting yet, but I will update you when I do! My guess is that they will be great for quieter (but still loud) gigs, in the 90-105 dB range. I would be hesitant to gig with them at a hardcore-punk or doomgaze show, but for small-venues and less explosive genres? These could be the ideal solution where IEMs aren't viable but direct P.A. monitoring is too harsh. It's a great niche, and honestly something I've always wanted but never found until now!

I'm a gigging musician with a home studio, background in audio engineering, and passion aural safety. I nerd out about hearing protection; I keep multiple kinds of earplugs around at all times. I'm thrilled with this Attenuate pair. Way to go Flare.

Okay but not great

These work okay but have a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, the small tip is still slightly too big for my ears so it's difficult to wear them. Wish they would add an extra small tip! Secondly, the hard plastic part gets pretty noisy when anything touches it, even hair blowing against it in the wind. Other than that, they work fine. They do reduce the volume, and are easier to handle on the go than trying to put the tiny filters into the Calmers (which I also own). All in all an okay solution but I prefer the Calmer + filters combo.

They work as advertised lowering the decibels yet

They work as advertised lowering the decibels yet maintaining most frequencies. I like that I can wear them in my loud work environment and still understand the intelligibility of speech sufficiently. One tiny thing I think would make it better: a case that lets me carry it on my keychain would be better. The supplied little bag when opened; makes them easier to lose.

Attenuate was the perfect solution for the issue I bought them for.

I bought these for my wife who has some tinnitus which is made worse by being in loud rooms or having loud noises near her. We happen to have a infant grandchild who is prone to being quite loud. The 12dB reduction is enough to take the edge off reducing my wife's immediate discomfort and the later ringing that would have happened if she had not had any protection. It does this while allowing her to still understand talking and other sounds clearly. She has been very happy with them.

No.

Those are very under-engineered. The ergonomics are terrible and they hurt me after a few seconds. I am an avid earplug user, have tested dozens of models, I know how to put things in my ears correctly.
The stem is just too rigid and straight, the tips are too malleable to fit tightly while keeping the stem away from your ear canal... and yet the occlusion effect is very present and unpleasing.
This is a poor product.

Hi Paul,

We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback and we're sorry you had trouble with Attenuate. We have reached out to you privately to see if we can help you with the product, a pronounced occlusion effect with this product would indicate an issue with the fitment and we'd love to go over the fitment for you specifically. You can reach us through the help centre on the site or any of our social media channels, we're here to help.

It is simple idea, that for typical EarBuds Tips

It is simple idea, that for typical EarBuds Tips (small, medium and large) put something what will reduce sound. However, it work well. Especially for somebody who get to used headphones with EarBuds Tips.

Another Great Flare Product! - Worked As Expected For Me

I’ve been a fan of FLARE products for a long time and use my E-Prototype earphones every day so I was eager to check out their latest offering called Attenuate when I went to the Bruce Springsteen concert in LA last week.

I’ve used other basic products to reduce the overall level but they always had a tradeoff which was with the lower volume, you lost the top end frequencies and overall muffling of the entire mix.

My seats were at the corner of the stage with a line array of speakers right in front of me.

The Attenuates delivered in lowering the overall volume without killing the top end, muddying up the bottom or muffling the entire mix!

Obviously, the sound will not be the same as having nothing in your ears at a concert but I would rather use my Attenuates and have a pleasant audio experience during a show and no ringing after the show than have to stick Kleenex or those squishy orange ear plugs in my ears and have the entire show sound muffled.

Thank God I had them because without them the mix was pretty loud and harsh especially being right in front of the array.

I took them in and out during the first couple of songs to hear the difference and it was very apparent that these things were working for me!

My friends that I went with said that their ears were ringing as we walked to the car but fortunately, I didn’t have any issues being that I used the Attenuates.

Everyone’s ears and hearing is different but if you want your concert experience to be a little lower in volume should give Attenuates a try (especially being that they are much more affordable than getting a custom pair of attenuating ear plugs from an audiologist that might offer various filters from 9dB to 25dB).

I can’t thank you enough for getting them to me so quickly so that I could use them for this concert.

THANK YOU!!!

You never cease to amaze me with the new products you invent.

Can’t wait to see what else you have in the queue for release in 2026.

Not quite enough

This doesn’t turn down the sound of my bagpipes enough. A reduction of say 25 db would be a lot better, for my purposes.

I bought these to turn the music down. And they do turn it down 12 to 15 percent. I had hoped that would be enough but just too many decibels. 120 decibels turned down to 105 is still quite loud. Funny thing it seems to have turned down the lows but it seems like it leaves the highs alone. Guess I will keep looking.

Not good for a rock concert

These work okay for my wife's bagpiping gigs, but they were a big failure at a rock concert. The sound was good at the venue as confirmed by my friends, but through these ear plugs there was a lot of distortion.

Really disappointed

I'm so disappointed with these. I LOVE my Calmer plugs so I was hopeful I'd love these for louder spaces, but I really don't. I can't seem to get them to sit in my ears in any way that feels comfortable, and no matter what position they're in, sound is simultaneously really muffled and somehow more unpleasant/overwhelming. I've looked at the pictures of other people wearing them and fiddled with them 3 times now, trying to get them placed "right," but I think I'm just going to give up and accept that I don't like these, even though I so badly want to.

I really wanted to love these, especially for the price, but they just didn’t work for me. They’re actually a bit more uncomfortable than the cheap earplugs I usually use. The Calmer ones feel better overall in my opinion, though they tend to sit a little too deep in my ears — and I have small ears — so they’re not perfect either.

Good to keep handy

Definitely works. Brings everything down, evenly, to a comfortable level. Been testing them with different things around the home. Stereo, television. Kitchen etc. the big test will be in my local on pool competition night.

Life & anxiety changing

Attenuate have genuinely changed my life. That sounds hyperbolic, but it’s actually really true. Even with a bit of stage musician hearing loss, my overall hearing scores are above average, which means my world is loud … normal conversation can be painful & cause “clipping”. Now, with Calmer at home, Attenuate in the wild, & Isolate for live music/performance events, I feel less anxiety & more in control of my overall response to life.

While I've benefited from Calmer for years, I did test out noise reduction options from 3-4 other companies to try & wrangle my discomfort & anxiety. For me, nothing else has worked as well as my now go-to trio. I’m super grateful that Flare keeps putting out new options & that they’ve become true solutions!

These earplugs help me so much

These earplugs help me so much. They make sound clearer, less noise pollution, and the hole down the middle allows for SIGNIFICANTLY less occulation than any other earplugs I’ve used.
