These work! They will save your hearing. Musician, biker, race car enthusiast, small convertible car enthusiast speaking from experience.
I'm a musician, I play fife and drum. The fife blasts your RIGHT ear at high frequency and high decibels, many fifers develop tinnitus in the right ear from just playing their instrument a few times. Reports of "still hearing the tunes in their heads" after events are literally hearing damage being done.
I play snare drum in this hobby too, that reflects off the ground and hammers the LEFT ear with deeper tones. Same story, extremely loud slap on the drum head followed nanoseconds later by the echo off the ground right into your left ear. You can't hear someone talking right next to you while playing a snare drum.
I'm also a motorcycle and small British car enthusiast too. I drive an Austin Healey Sprite and an MG Midget. Both convertible, both have loud road noise, engine noise and exhaust noise, plus the sound of other traffic. Both ears get fatigued in these cars and many of the old car club members suffer from hearing damage after a few years of driving these things.
Isolate earplugs, with the lanyard slung around your neck, used during practice sessions, performances, drives to the store or long drives through the countryside are extremely effective at reducing the dB hitting your ears and greatly reducing the impact of these extremely loud noises, and for a price that absolutely means I'm buying these for Christmas presents for my friends in both hobbies.
